Wild and Running CH:24

Kaila's POV

I sit in the hospital café downstairs playing with the bagel I had ordered for breakfast. I really don't know why I got it; I'm not really that hungry. So many thoughts are racing through my head.
"What's wrong Kaila?" Ashley asks me, wrapping his arm around me and making my cheeks burn a bit.
"Nothing, just thinking about stuff." I answer quietly.
"Whatcha thinkin about?" He asks
"Just a lot of….stuff."
"Like…?" Jake buts in
Everyone's looking at me; I hate it when I'm the center of attention.
"Rem's father." I say quietly
Everyone becomes silent for a second, I knew this was going to happen, that's why I wanted to stay quiet. Now, here come the questions.
"Now why is he on your mind?" Ashley asks, breaking the silence.  
I stay quiet for a moment.
"Because, I fear for everyone. That time when it was Rem and I at the hospital was not the first time that I had been physically abused by her father, whenever I was over her house and he came home, he'd slap me around just like Rem. I tried to get Rem to move in with me, but she knew as well as I did that,
1) He wouldn't let her leave and
2), he would just come and find her and bring her back."
They all look at me with saddened eyes. I can't tell then about Rem's cutting, that's a matter that is between Rem and I and us alone. Yes, I know about her cutting, I just never wanted to tell her that I knew because I knew that would just make everything worse, but I told myself that if it gets to the point where it just takes her over, I'm going to get her help.

Ashley's POV

Man, Kaila and Rem both have been through a lot, and even that is an understatement. Kaila's strong and is determined to never give up, but Rem, she may be on a downward spiral. From the looks of it, Kaila doesn't know about the incident, and if she does she's one hell of a liar. Listening to her side makes me really understand how much of a monster this man really is, and how badly he's affected these two.
"Alright guys, let's go back upstairs and see if…"
Right before I can finish my sentence, I see Jinxx.
"Whoa Jinxx, what's with all the running?" I ask
"Guys, Andy's awake, I'm trying to find a doctor but I can't find one… which, now that I think of it, is ironic seeing as though we are in a hospital."
We all look at each other and get up from the table as quickly as possible and make our way up to Andy's room.
